Introducing Jeanette our new Family Support Worker - Funded by The Millie Wright Children's Charity
Hello, my name is Jeanette.
I am a Family Support Worker in Children's Haematology, Liver and Renal. My post
is brand new and has been generously funded by the Millie Wright Children’s Charity.
I am excited to begin supporting children, young people, and their families throughout hospital admissions, outpatient appointments and family events. I will be on hand to offer emotional and practical support, whether that is providing a listening ear, a cup of tea, or a more structured support package.
I am looking forward to meeting all the children, young people, and their families over the coming months. I have lots of ideas about how I will develop this new service, working in partnership with families, my nursing colleagues and the Millie Wright Children’s Charity. Watch this space for lots more news!
A little bit about me: I have worked in the SILC (special) schools as part of the nursing team, supporting children and young people with complex health needs to access education. My role involved working with families, supporting them emotionally and with practical issues. I spent time working in Children's respite units and Children's hospices.
I am very excited to be representing and supporting the Millie Wright Children’s Charity within Leeds Children’s Hospital.
